73 Cuda 340 4-speed w/Air WIW
« on: March 28, 2015 - 12:12:01 PM »
Between work and school I am not finding much time to work on my car so I have been contemplating buying or trading up to a done car. This of course depends on what mine is worth.

73 340 4-speed. All numbers match, original 3.55 sure grip rear. Factory AC car. The engine is complete minus the original valve covers. Correct air cleaner, carb, manifolds, pulleys, brackets, compressor, etc. Fender Tag and two sheets. The car has had Amd quarter skins, trunk extensions and outer wheel houses. trunk is original with a few pin holes but solid. I replaced the fire wall but retained the upper cowl with the numbers. Correct numbers on the rad support as well.

The car is a rolling body right now with lots of extra parts that need restored. I have 2 extra dash assemblies, one a pretty nice 3 speaker. The paint is Dupont croma base with SPI universal clear. I give the pain a 7 out of 10. A color sand and buff would bring that up to an 8. The base is a little light in spots but looks fantastic in the daylight. I did wet sand the first 3 coats of clear with 600 and applied3 more coats so there is plenty to buff out. The parts I know that are missing are the windshield and gas tank. Also things like brake and fuel lines that were going to get replaced anyways. Nice grille as well but it does need two holes from fog lights filled and repainted. No breaks or cracks.

So what is it worth as it sits?

I'll take a stab at it but it will be more difficult because it's not a fully built car.

NADA Guide says:

Values
Facebook
     Original
MSRP    Low
Retail    Average
Retail    High
Retail
Base Price    $3,050    $10,450    $22,700    $35,100
Options: (change)
4 Speed Transmission         5%    5%    5%
Air Conditioning         5%    5%    5%
TOTAL PRICE:    $3,050    $11,494    $24,970    $38,610

So if you have a complete car and it's at the high end it's worth about 38k. Now you have a car that is in pieces and needs work you might get somewhere around 12-18k max for the right buyer.

Just my 2 cents.

True. I think I will keep plugging away at it. Would be hard to give up on it after all the work I have all ready done.

I would hate to see you sell it Jeff after it just got painted and all the work you have done.  But I understand circumstances change.  I would say $12,00-15,000 but if you could finish it then it goes up $15,000+.  I would think if it was finished you would want to sell it for sure.  Best of luck and I hope you keep it and finish it.   :2thumbs:
