K-Member Pic Wanted
« on: May 28, 2015 - 01:52:01 PM »
Hey Guys,

I thought I saved it but I can't find it.  There was a post with pics that showed the right places to weld the K-member up in order to stiffen it up.  Does anyone have those pics?  Thanks

Dave

There are some pics on the firmfeel.com website (got to E body, then "reinforced k member".   These pics shows there stiffening plates installed.   I did mine welding the perimeter of the 2 main plates that are otherwise just spot welded.  Whether you buy their kit or make your own pieces I think the other biggest bang changes focus on boxing in the mounting location for the steering gear.  There were some gaps around the mounting location for the idler arm too.  Unless you go hog wild heating up one location too much, everything I've read says the k members are perry stout.   Good luck.

I just welded mine, there is some picts in my resto thread. (link below). I got the FF kit, but I think you can make an even better fit making your own pieces, maybe all K-frames are not exactly alike.
