Z Bar removal tips ?
« on: April 13, 2015 - 05:49:08 PM »
70 cuda 383 Tremec T500

Bushings are shot and have new otw from Roseville. Been looking it over.  Whats the easiest way to remove the Zbar/torque shaft ?

Once I have the linkage and the spring clip removed will it slide to one side allowing removal ?  Also,  I thought about grease zerks. I would make a wooden dowel cut to length for the middle 3rd of the tube to take up some of the space with a small screw to hold it and then a have a grease zerk near each end. Is it worth the hassle ? I can do it easily.

Been telling my wife that this job is gonna make my 4post lift worth every dime !!  :D

I would loosen the bolt on the Z-bar bracket mounted to the frame and take the Z-bar/pivot bolt out together. This will make life easier when putting it back in with it already in the Z-bar. Yes, the Z-bar will slide out with the spring clip removed from the bellcrank side attachment pivot bolt.

I don't think grease zerks are needed if the seals have held up but if it's easy enough to do, then I don't see a problems.

That's how I did mine.
