I have a Dec 1969 Super Stock magazine where they test a Six Pack Runner against a Hemi Runner. Both cars had identical options [except engines and colors]. Both were auto 410 dana cars. Both driven and tuned by mopar ace Bill Stiles. Both said to be 100% stock. Both initially ran 14's. Tire pressure adjusted and timing reset at track by Stiles.

Results.
HEMI        13.34 @ 107.52
SIX PACK  13.65 @ 104.04

I would say that is indicative of real world though. I've driven these cars for more than 40 years. The 440's are kind of a set it and forget it deal (well not so much the 6 bbls). The Hemi's need a bit more attention (plugs and valve sets) but do topend a lot harder than a 440. In most street races (which were usually over by 75MPH) the 440's were probably a better deal for most people that didn't keep a car in tune. When you start modifying with headers, cams, gears the Hemi responds way harder. A stock Hemi was undercammed and really liked headers.
I always make sure my hemis run hard, if there is one thing that turns me off it's a showcar 14 or 15 second Hemi.

I hear that.  A couple of years ago a fellow showed up at a local car show with a Hemi Belvedere. Not sure what year, '66 or '67 square body car. Any way, he was sort of trying to pass it off as an original Hemi car - which it clearly, according to the VIN, was not. The engine looked and sounded mostly stock. I thought I heard a slight bottom end knock when he pulled in, but I really didn't think much about it. Well, after over an hour of folks telling him that was not an original car, he seemed to get a little peeved and decided to show everyone what that Hemi could do when he left the cruise. He pulled out onto the main street and hammered the throttle. the tires spun and it sounded pretty good when the RPM's came up  --  right up until the bottom end grenaded itself. It was a sorry sight when I left and he was standing beside it waiting on a tow truck. Oil running out from under the car and you could still see it dripping...  Ouch.......
