Powermaster 140v Alternator on SB
« on: May 08, 2015 - 06:34:36 AM »
Has anyone installed the Powermaster #8-47529/8-57529 140 alternator in their sb?

Did you have to make any mounting bracket changes?
What did you do with the two existing field wires?
Any pictures of the install?
Any issues with the 1-wire setup on your 3-wire system?
What do I do with my extra wires on my positive stud that feed my accessories?
Will a 1-wire unit drain the battery?

Note: My existing Powermaster #7508 60a/99a no longer charges at idle. I have already made wiring upgrades in the past to run my existing alternator. Since I need a new alternator, I am now I am looking for a little more power at idle and this existing unit appears to be one of the strongest 3-wire on the marker at that time. After talking with Powermaster, the 140a seems to be the next best choice but it is a 1-wire setup. I have never ran a 1-wire before and I have read a lot about them, but I am after opinions on the install.

 Thanks
