Another Right Stuff recall
« on: April 30, 2015 - 09:22:35 PM »
I've just received a certified letter from Right Stuff indicating there is a potential defect in the passenger side lower ball joint I bought from them for my 70 Challenger as part of a front brake drum to disc conversion.   They indicate that they will exchange both the PS and DS ball joints to keep them a matched set cosmetically.   I believe there was a recall on the spindles from this conversion set last Fall.  I appreciate that they are taking care of the swap.   It is still a bit disturbing to have recalls on these 2 critical components.  I don't think I'm going to start over with a new vendor but this may serve as fair warning for anyone considering a conversion kit purchase in the future.

Interesting....thanks for sharing! Appreciate the heads up. Is there a part number we can spot easily to verify what we have?

Yup I got the notice for the spindles that they had a bad batch as well.  Luckily mine have held up fine and I didn't have to exchange them.

The Right Stuff part number listed in the letter is XK781.

I received another letter from Right Stuff indicating that the driver side lower ball joint is being recalled.   The prior letter indicated that only the passenger side lower ball joint was of concern, but they would replace the DS as well to keep them matched.   A couple of days after the 2nd recall letter arrived, I received the replacement parts for both PS and DS.  Good to see they took care of this without much fuss.   Certainly hope there are no more issues.

I actually ordered 2 separate kits from them:  the drum -> disc conversion which included the spindles, and a front end suspension rebuild kit which included the lower ball joints.
