Woodhaven — A man was arrested early Tuesday after he was clocked driving 153 miles per hour on Interstate 75, according to the Michigan State Police.
The 21-year-old Lincoln Park resident was spotted by police around 3 a.m. driving northbound near West Road, Lt. Mike Shaw said. The man sped by troopers at 79 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour speed limit zone, he said.
"As (police) turned around, the vehicle continued to speed up until it was clocked at 153 miles per hour," Shaw said. "The driver of the vehicle exited at Eureka Road, pulled into a parking lot and was stopped by troopers."
The driver was arrested and his 2005 Dodge Magnum was impounded, Shaw said. He was released after processing at the state police Metro Post.
Alcohol was not a factor in the incident, Shaw said. Police have submitted information to prosecutors for review, and the man may face a reckless driving charge.
