a few wiring questions
« on: June 07, 2015 - 08:26:19 PM »
A little bit of background on what I have done. I am using a fast XFI fuel injection system that is controlling timing also. I am also using an msd 6al box to get spark. I am using a one wire alternator. It is connected directly to the battery cablè to bypass the ammeter. I disconnected the engine harness at the bulkheadbecause I did not need much of it. I ran individual wires to temperature sending unit and oil pressure unit. I ran a hot wire from the battery to the bla ck wire going to the ignition switch at the buckhead.  I used the brown wire to turn on and off the Fast CPU and msd box. The problem is as soon as I turn on the key the cpu and msd box come on and goes right back off. They will not stay on.
Also does anything need to be connected to the wire going to the ammeter right now it is disconnected at the bulkhead.
thanks in advance.

Think your problem is the brown wire is the "start" side of the switch that only supplies power as you turn the key all the way forward to crank the engine.
There's a blue wire for "run" that gets power in the on position.. Tie both of those to the MSD

 :iagree:

I am almost running the identical setup you have, FAST Controler/MSD/ammeter bypass/1 wire alt.  So yes you have to tie the brown and blue wire together, one for start and one for run.

Thanks for the info. I went and tried connecting the blue wire with the brown one and it did the trick. Works like it should now. :2thumbs: Thanks again guys.
