Rocker spacers and pushrods

I took "topped out"  to mean the adjuster on the rocker backed all the way out.

Okay   Did you remember to add some preload to the measured length?

I don't remember if the PRW's are 20 tpi or 25 tpi.  That gives you a range of 0.050"-0.040" for one turn on the adjuster.  Providing some preload on the measured length allows one to adjust less than a half turn for any variation and keeps the adjuster from having to go much farther.   Seems to minimze the possibility of breakage down the road.

Well I borrowed a 9-10" micrometer from work today. My stock pushrods measure 9.300 inches. Using the method mentioned earlier in this thread, the adjustable p-rods measure 9.213", 9.215", and 9.218".
Those measurements are for no preload at all.
Should I add a bit of preload to the p-rods I order? Or just dial it in with the rockers?
So...with those numbers, what length p-rods should I order? 9.213"

I would add 0.030"

I used the one turn out as a baseline so you have some wiggle room both ways to add the needed adjustment for pre;oad so I would leave them at the measurement you have & order them @ 9.215 this will have your adjustment approx 1.5 turns out

So half a turn equates to about .040 or so?
Smith bros wants about $140 for a set of p-rods. Never bought p-rods b4. Sound about right for price?

Full turn will be 0.040-0.50" depending on tpi.  Half turn is what many of us do to get max rpm before incurring valve float. Sounds right on the cost
