I use to think that too.... Till I was proven wrong..... The full trunk floor comes with the section behind the rear frame member which the bumper brackets attach to.... Once you remove that 3-4" strip of metal the full trunk floor pan can be slid in through the slot.... It's actually pretty easy.. FWIW straightening & aligning the two piece trunk floor then trying to weld the seam is a PITA... I've done four of them.. All with great results but it took allot of work to get there.... If I do another theres no question it will be a one piece floor... This isn't an E body, it's my 68 Coronet but it shows the bit of metal I'm talking about... E bodies don't have the three triangular brackets to deal with...
I know that is true for the 70, I'm assuming it's also true for the later models like the 73?
