Six pac problem
« on: June 07, 2015 - 06:03:24 PM »
I'm stuck on this one. 440 six pac was perfect.  All of a sudden the other night I floored it in 3rd gear and I think one of the carbs stuck open. After a few blips, idle came back down. Checked the obvious linkage and vacuum lines. Seemed OK for the next few wot then happened again today. What next? Thanks , John

Also check for throttle shaft binding. The carb linkage from the center carb to the outboard carbs must be able to pull them all closed. Linkage adjustment maybe? If the carbs are over tightened to the intake manifold, throttle plate/shaft may bind when the engine is hot. Just a few ideas. If one of the carbs is sticking open, this can be a dangerous situation.

Found it. Look at the rod for the choke. Flopping around and jammed behind the throttle lever. The little press washer fell off. Cars.

Good deal! Congrats! You don't want to be driving around with a throttle sticking problem. If you have any other issues just post! Good luck and enjoy your six pack!

it should be retained by a fold over clip not a press washer
