By chance, did you take an auto setup and convert it over to 4speed?

Then you might have mega issues with the throwout bearing and basically you have stuffed the input shaft into too narrow a hole in the crank.

Just something to look out for based on what you have said.

No. The car was born a 4 speed :)

Probably not enough throw. Can you measure how much you have now from the top and fully depressed?

It's just enough now but I know that was that was/is the problem. The fork angle is to far back. If it were a 1/2' more forward I don't think this conversation would exist.

And another possible sign is - does your clutch pedal bottom out before it is near the floor? Also be careful of trying to get more travel as you will drive the TO bearing mechanism into rotating parts due to over travel.
I know all these things because I have suffered through this and always hoped the issue was on the outside when it was in the difficult to get at inside! Now I have zero clutch issues just traction problems

The pedal was just about the end of travel before when the fork was hitting the bell. The pedal is now down all the way and pulling the fork and reinstalling it. I'd say that had I not ground off the bell, there would be about a 1/16" of space.  The only thing I don't know is if it was that way 15 years ago when the shop originally installed the bell. The car worked so I never inspected it.
