...I know there's a difference in the number of bows between the years, but the question is, is a 70 Cuda headliner physically the same size/dimensions:clueless:

Reason I ask...I have a new 70 headliner I've never used, and need to save some bucks by using in my 74 Cuda.

Thanks in advance...

Thanks...was not so obvious to me as I had seen different part numbers for different years in aftermarket parts catalogs. ..

the roof panel was never changed so yes it has to be the same size although the bows are different

I think the bows attach to the roof differently in the later years.  I don't know if that will cause any problems or not.  You might have to use 1970 bows.  It might be more expensive to get the bows then it is for a new headliner.  Aren't perforated headliners only like $40?  You don't have to spend big bucks on the correct 74 headliner.

I think you're right on the different 'type' of bows (not just the number of bows).

From what I think I'm finding out, the 70-71 5 bows had to use clips for the bows (the ends of the bows are straight and fit into the pockets of the clips),
whereas on 4 bow 71-74 (my 74). the ends of the bows have a bend which fit into predrilled holes?

On my 74, I do have 5 sets of 'holes' for bows (not sure the straight end bows would stay in place), but no place I can see to mount the clips...(i've attached pics of my 74)

All headliners I'm finding are around $80 and up, so if you have a $40 source, let me know. thks

So back to square one, as I have a 70 headliner that I don't think I can fit into my 74 which has no headliner or bows today....  :dunno:

Maybe I could use a 4 bow set in the 5 bow headliner and skip the center one? ?
