I always carry a small jumper wire with alligator clips. You can connect one end to positive on battery and the other to the coil positive. This will assure full voltage to coil and when you crank the starter it should fire if not you have a points/pick-up or ecu problem if it's electrical.

Check the air gap on the reluctor/pick up coil.. Should be .008 check with a brass feeler gauge...

Would they effect the spark coming from the blaster coil?

The pickup coil in the distributor is where the spark signal comes from... No signal=No spark...  If the air gap is above .012 you'll get intermittent signal, above .020 no spark at all....

Doesn't matter what the coil is. The pick-up/reluctor sends the signal to the ECU to control when the coil generates HV to the spark plug.  :2cents:

Haven't been able to get to the car the last 2 days, I got a better offer on the car and from a Texas buyer who has sent me a deposit, he will pick it up on his way to sturgis at the end of the month. So the car not starting that day worked in my favor Hahaha

I have had some problems with the reluctor also with new mopar perf distributor. The metal tab holding the pickup coil was slightly kinked when bought and that caused uneven or tapering air gap between the pickup and the reluctor. I had to set the air gap so that it was just shy of touching the reluctor wheel when the small amount of slack was taken into account. I did straighten the metal tab and now it is not that picky anymore but my setup is still closer than the 0.008.

My symptoms when pickup needed adjustment was no start with just some occassional pops. First time the problem came, the car ran fine on the day before and did not start on next morning.
