I've got the whole trans disassembled except for the output shaft and planetary assembly. After removing the selective snap ring from the forward end of the shaft I still cannot get the front planet off... It wiggles back and forth but it will not pass the groove where the snap ring was. I've been trying forever and I'm afraid to pry on it
Hard not to get discouraged after seeing ring grooves on bearing surfaces and nicks everywhere. I'm going to have a lot of parts to order...

Maybe buying another core would be cheaper to get the parts you need?

Got everything figured out and parts are on the way!! Were these transmissions painted from the factory? I had my case put in the cleaning machine and it came back with green primer looking stuff peeling all over it.

....lots of scrubbing later... now looking a beautiful dull aluminum color. Maybe I'll polish and clear coat, maybe I'll paint it bright aluminum color... Can't decide

If you'd like it to look like it's 1970 all over again look into vapor blasting...

I went with the $6.99 option... I coated it in aluminum engine enamel, which is oil, scratch and heat resistant. ...we'll see how long it lasts. I'm happy with the results, just wanted it to look good
