Anyone running ProStar (Weld) Rims ????
« on: July 25, 2015 - 05:36:54 AM »
Have these on the car now,,,,,I like the rims,,,,,

Question.... Did you put in longer wheel studs ??  :dunno:

The stud on the car comes thru the rim,,,but doesnt come out much...... the rim is "runnning" on the stud as it should,,,,but I was hoping it would protrude more thru the rim,,,,,

Thinking I may have to go to longer wheel studs....eg,,,a 3" wheel stud....

This wont be a race car,,,,( which i know has rules on how much the stud has to extend inside the lug nut ),,,,,but the current studs seem a bit short to me

hey Doug, I ran pro stars on a 86 Daytona I converted and I put the longer studs in as it made me feel better. I used a closed end nut so just cut off what I needed.

Thanks Bruce! I think I would also feel comfortable with longer wheel studs. I was surprised how recess they appeared.  At some point I may put some dog dish hubcaps and rims painted body color.  Can't make up my mind, for now the pro stars will be on the car

I use Pro Stars as my drag strip wheels and have used them on a few cars.

They have a thick center and my short stock length studs didn't stick out at all.

When I run Weld Wheels with any type of performance drivetrain, street or strip, I install the longer studs. :2cents:
