TA spoiler
« on: August 20, 2015 - 12:12:16 AM »
I am into installing a TA spoiler on the trunk of my Challenger.
Took the below pic of a stock TA trunk lid and boy, i wish i had those holes made for accessing the spoiler bolts....

For those of you who did this on a non-TA trunk lid, how did you go with it?

Sure, i can drill holes from top of lid trough it all and that would give me the location. But as it is not flat steel underneath the lid, the thought of going in there with a round hole saw just scares me...
Some pics would be highly appreciated!

It appears also that the spoiler does not sit in line with the trunk lip, more forward like 1/2 inch or so. Thats the way it should be?

First your example car is missing the outboard screws...

Second I've seen templates (unfortunately I don't have it or know where I saw it) for cutting the openings in the bottom of the deck lid.. Careful use of a die grinder with cut off wheels & carbide burrs you could easily replicate that in an hour...

Third yes the spoiler sits maybe 3/8" forward of the back edge of the deck lid...

And if you don't already have it I can post the template for the top side holes..

I bought these templates for a Cuda deck lid from First Place Auto Parts (FPAP). I think they also had them for Challengers. Unfortunately, after Fritz's death, the company was taken over by someone else. I don't know who they are or if they even still carry these templates. You may want to look into this further.

Looks like Trim Parts took them over...   http://www.fpap.com   FWIW I toured Trim Parts facilities years ago, they are definitely car enthusiasts & hopefully will do a good job moving forward...

Yes, there we have it!

From Trimparts web page:
"If your decklid is not stamped with the factory recesses to access the mounting stud area for this spoiler, purchase the FP243 templates ($30/pr)."

Thanks, guys!
