new firm feel steering box

I finished installing my new Firm Feel Stage 3 box the other day. Big difference. I would not have been happy with anything less than Stage 3. One thing I'm not happy about is the return shipping. When Firm Feel shipped the box to me in Buffalo, NY it was $45. When I shipped the core back it was $70 plus $3.50 for insurance. That was for UPS. To ship it USPS was $77.

What if you would have shipped a core to be rebuilt first?  Any savings?

I'm thinking it would be the same. I'd still have to pay the $70 to have mine shipped to them for rebuilding and then the $45 for the return. Either they get a much cheaper rate for being a business or they roll some of the shipping cost into the cost of the new box so you don't get sticker shock until you send the core back. But no I'm not complaining about Firm Feel, I just had in mind the cost of return shipping would be the same. So you can imagine my surprise!

I gotcha now, I wasn't sure where you were going with this until you mentioned that. Makes sense now, I would be pretty annoyed about that. I have been planning on a  FF box and suppose I better keep that in mind. Thanks!

When I sent my 2 cores, I used Uship.com.

This girl who lived up that way, does it for a living going back and forth from L.A. to Washington hauling stuff.

She had puppies and some furniture to deliver too.
I put the steering box in a milk crate, sealed up and it was like 50 bucks for 2 cores sent.

Uship.com is pretty good. They don't get paid unless it gets delivered.
They do rely on good feedback so they can earn other future business as well.

I just checked out UShip.com. My box was 18" X 18" x 10" and 38 lbs. I am going all the way across the county so the cost was over $200. So in my case going UPS or USPS was just the cheapest.

Looks like $56 for me to get a box like that to Firm Feel. Not too terrible, given the weight.

When I had my Dana 60 shipped, I spoke with Cass a little about shipping.

What he said is there's shipping channels within the Logistics.
So the bottom line is: If you don't like the shipping quote, keep looking.

It's a bidding war out there to get your business.
Keep looking but within reason based on the distance it's going.
