Yes the strut rod is in the way and it is more complex an install than a simple K frame modification. As CP points out, there are some considerable geometry changes with the layout aside from the actual fitting of the unit to the car. Ackerman angles, bump steer, and turning radius are all concerns that seem to appear with R&P conversions and no one has developed a simple bolt on way of addressing them. They can be addressed but may require an alternate lower control arm that allows ball joints with bolt on fabricated steering arms to restore correct geometry and then you would need to reverse the strut so it is rear mounted and not interfering with the front steer system.
