Convertor balance weight removal

Hi Guys,

I went from an externally balanced rotating assembly to a internal one. My current torque convertor has a small balance weight. I think all I have to do is knock that weight off. Correct?
I already have the proper flex plate to go with the new crank.

Can I use any ATF?

new trans ?
 if so you could use F type , ATF will work too there are some newer formulas such as ATF+4 that are for new vehicles but any normal atf will work

No same ole 727.

Has been leaking since I got the car. Dumping the fluid. Im going to replace the pump seal.

Yeah I replaced the shaft seal at one point.

external balance weights are on the flat side of the converter near the drain plug. Your pic shows a weight that was probably used to zero balance the converter and not the crank shaft.

I was thinking the same thing, but then again, maybe they put them in different spots in different years?
Bandt, do you have any on the front face of the converter?

Sorry just saw this.

There were no balance weights on the front or rear face of the convertor. The balance weight was on the side. As some people said it was to neutral balance so I didn't remove it and it has been fine.
