I changed from points to electronic ignition will that affect my tach readings ( rally dash ) . According to my friends timing light ,has tach built in , My rpm's on light is 750 , inside tach is 1200 .Any thoughts ? As always Thank You.

I would hook up a 3rd tach to confirm. Also depends on the ignition system you got. You did not mention what electronic system you installed.

It shouldn't. With either ignition the tach is connected to the negative side of the coil. I agree this calls for a 3rd opinion. Either your tach or timing light is wrong.

Oh sorry, I was assuming you were using a Mopar Electronic Ignition. If you are using an MSD ignition then you need a tach adaptor from MSD to get the factory tach to read right.

You will find that some tach's don't work well with certain electronic ignitions and require an adaptor to make it more accurate. Check your manufacturer and they will probably have a tech note on it.
My last tach was this way and I pitched it, it was an Autometer tach.

Most '60s tachs won't work with modern electronic ignition, mine wouldn't work after I got rid of my points distributor so I sent it to AutoInstruments for a tach conversion and now it works perfectly.
