Rubber window stop help

Man The 1st one was a major PITA, to install :banghead:
I'M looking for any tips or tricks to help install these into the door slot.
These are the rubber down stops for the side glass that go in the bottom of the door :1zhelp:

grease up en push in or pull through with pliers...?   :dunno:  never had a problem there.  Maybe there`s too much paint in the hole?
