Trunk Pan Replacement: Bracing

Hey Everyone.

I'm cutting the back of my car apart to replace the trunk pan, deck filler panel, passenger trunk extension, and passenger quarter panel (driver's quarter is already done).  I've already got the quarter, deck filler, extension, and tail panel cut off.

Before I cut the trunk pan out, I'd like to get some input on bracing the car.  Right now I have the rear axle sitting on jack stands (suspension is all in place). I don't think I'll be completely cutting out the rear crossmemeber (it's in good shape).

Is there anything I need to do to brace the car before cutting the pan out?  I don't THINK it's necessary as the car is on level ground and the frame rails/crossmemeber should keep everything in place - just asking the question before I do something I might regret!

my car is in the same shape.......  i supported the front of the car took and back just in frn of the frame rail/ front spring mount.  cut trunks pan,,leave cross member for reference ....support cross member and check height from the floor...this will be you put it back., cross measure rails

by the way i did all of this but for got how far the trunk pans stick past rear cross member- can you pull a measurement of that.

Hows the install going?

I am still looking for a measurement from the cross member to the end of the trunk pan where it overhangs the cross member.
Any information would be helpful.

I did the same surgery and what was important to me was a level car and dimensions with ALL of the parts that interconnect with it. The frame dimensions were most important for the floor pan re-assembly. I even put my trunk lid back on to determine gaps. And don't weld a thing until you have mocked it all together.
