Parking lights not working?
« on: September 14, 2015 - 12:10:23 PM »
Pretty odd...no tail/parking lights or gauge lights????

Headlights work....brake lights work when pedal pushed.

Only thing that has been changed is the stock AM radio to a more modern looking radio.

I remember when I hooked it up the orange wire I just left off and put a wire nut on the end of it does that need to connect to something because I tried putting 12 volts to it and nothing happened but it did spark.

The dimmer switch seems to be working because you can turn it all the way left and the dome light will come on.

Any help is appreciated

Dimmer switch needs to be rebuilt or you have bad grounds at the parking lights.

I thought it might be the dimmer switch but does the dimmer switch control the parking lights? That sounds too odd...

check your fuses, I THINK the orange wire go's to the parking lights and dash lights.

Well ****....it was the fuse....I'm not used to looking at these old glass types. It LOOKED OK when first seen but a good head contorsion revealed a break.

I have no heater....so I swapped out that 20a fuse to the parking one. Front/rears work again.

I will need to hook the orange wire back up to a 12v switched/headlight wire to get my inside lights back.

Wonder why the fuse popped though? Just old?

Doubtful , fuses do not blow due to age , something had to short even just momentarily
