Does that mean there will be a Hellcat drive train available soon. This was local to me.

Sorry to see/hear. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe that. Events such as this will only start the ball rolling by big brother to force hp limits.
We all lose then.

Slim possibly the Hellcat owners insurance will cover that.
That means the Impala owner initially is a double looser.
He will have to file his own lawsuit to get reimbursed. Then he will own that morons backside. But it will take awhile.

Mike

the Hellcat should have 100% full coverage (required by the loan underwriter - this is 100% typical for any new car loan) unless the owner bought it outright and only put liability on it (which would be as stupid as the ****ty drift job they did ....). the battle will probably come from the Insurance company not wanting to fully pony up for repairs on the Impala.

Statment wasn't about lack of insurance.
Insurance has a strong case for not being liable.
He was arrested for being drunk and accident happened during what in essence was an illegal race. Obviously not against anyone but it was illegal exibition.

Insurance still owns it... They can cancel him but they own the liability for this...  If he were at a sanctioned race they could deny responsibility but on aa area open to public access he's covered.... Drunk doesn't exempt them, stupid doesn't exempt them....

This is too bad... our local Cars and Coffee just got punted from the Ford/Mazda Headquarters location in Irvine and now this happens locally again.  Sheesh.   Pain in the butt to find a reliable large-scale show around here.

I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure that here in Ontario if you are impaired your insurance doesn't cover you. Jimynick might chime in on this.

 Ya gotta be on SOMETHING to get involved with these cars, don't you Alan?  Here in the People's Republic of Ontario, your collision coverage is null and void if you're CONVICTED of being impaired, but the PL or public liability carries on and the Imp- or more likely Biscayne judging by the post, would be covered. The company has a legal responsibility to fairly reimburse the third party, but that doesn't mean they'll pay whatever he thinks the car's worth. People with good intellects, usually have their own cars appraised and insured and that goes a long ways toward establishing a true acv (actual cash value). Here endeth the sermon on Insurance 101. Think I'll go and have a wee drinky- just to keep Alan happy, that is.

Did this happen at the same fairground lot the Cars and Coffee is restarting up at?

Thankfully no one was hurt. That would have been some very bad PR for muscle car shows. All it takes is one drunk A.H. to ruin it for everyone. This guy's friends should have taken his keys. :dunno:

No thankfully -  turns out it was a "cruise for a cure" thing that was local...
