Subs under back seat
« on: September 13, 2015 - 11:08:59 PM »
I see there's subs with mounting depths under 3". Has anyone installed any subs under the seats ? Or anywhere but the trunk for that matter ?

I have seen many guys mount subs and large speaker boxes in the trunk against the rear seat.  My Charger has it mounted under the package tray and you can hardly notice it.

The trunk is a way better place for it. It needs to move a lot of air. Small and thin is never good when it comes to subs.

Ok, that brings me to another question. I have the back of my seats crammed full of insulation and also a layer of sound deadener between seats and trunk. Will the sub work properly in the trunk or will I have to remove the insulation and deadener?

Keep it. Sub will work fine, the frequencies are so low they will go thru anything. Just make sure you have other good speakers inside the car that goes down to about 80Hz. It takes 3 ft of concrete to completely stop loud sub frequencies.
