Very interesting...But most reputable shops that I know of....don't have to advertise or stoop to "gimmick" type offers to get business.... :2cents:

$70K for the car a labour is probably about right, but they didn't mention the other $70K in parts that a custom build will likely need :money:

and if you are going to advertise, put your name our there and on a product, please learn how to spell, proof read or at least use spell check. this is an immediate turn off IMO, shows lack of detail or care and for someone to drop $70k + onto a build, you can bet they are looking at the details of your posts.

aside from the advertizement, its not a bad strategy to try out. When building cars everyone has different tastes, so instead of trying to build a car and hope someone likes it, you sell the car before its built. The problem is now you have a customer to deal with though out the build process.

Yes I agree it's an interesting concept, however it may be flawed.
If I'm reading correctly, you buy a 70 Cuda and get all inclusive labour for one agreed and set price of $70K.
Obviously parts are extra....
But lets break down the $70K

Lets say the Cuda is a solid project to start with...average $20K

That leaves $50K to cover ALL the labour....apparently it doesn't matter how radical you want it, it's covered.
To quote " it's very easy to have 1500 hours in a good build"
$50K / 1500 = $33.34/hr
To quote "average shop is $50-$90"
Tells me they are less then average to begin with. :dunno:
"a great job took us 3836 hours" or  $13/hr ... :smilielol:

I get most crooked shops exaggerate the amount of hours to charge you more then they quoted, but these guys have locked in a labour quote....So how do they deal with overage ? Start cutting corners ? Start doubling the price of the parts ? I really don't think they will be the ones losing in the end.

This is how I see it ending. Either way you will pay.

Well Colour me surprised.

I don't get where ambiguity makes a good bedfellow with money... especially when you're forking over your negotiating position in the $45K deposit.   This listing should be flagged for removal.
