electronic ignition ballast resistor location
« on: October 19, 2015 - 03:13:57 PM »
Is this the correct location for the electronic ignition and ballast resistor? I took this picture from a 1971 Challenger 426 Hemi car that has 38K original miles on it. Did they come with an electronic ignition back in 71 and the ballast resistor is a four point resistor, is this correct? Thanks all.

No. Here you go. Although Electronic ignition was an option in 71, I have never seen one on a Hemi.

In 1970-71 Electronic ignition was not available, therefore the answer about correct locations and such would be NO.

Even if it had "Factory" Electronic ignition they would not have mounted the module to the cowl without the proper bracket used in 72+.....They never mounted the ballast resistor way over on the passenger side like that either, they were always next to the wiper motor.

Ah: I didn't have a photo of just the ballast mounting, that just didn't seem very interesting!
