This was my 71 Barracuda slant 6 auto I bought in 1983 for $200!!! It was as clean as it looks with perfect black bucket seat interior. Don't know how many they made but you don't see them often.

Nice! Love old pictures, my first Cuda had the same stripes, is that original?

Don't think they were original to the car. They looked good and people assumed it was a 340 car (as long as they didn't hear the engine running) It got great gas mileage for a young guy with a minimum wage job.

You guys are simply awesome. To be honest, I was almost expecting fair arguments for not keeping the slant and maybe even a shunning. So to say the least, I'm glad I'm here.

I'll get pictures up as soon as I can. My work schedule sucks so getting to my home computer is a pain sometimes. Before anything, I need to get the car on a rotisserie so I can clean the entire car completely to bare and go from there. I'm trying to keep costs as low as I can. I work as a corrections officer, and while my salary is not too bad for an entry position, I don't have the disposable income as much as I'd like!

I would really like a Challenger or a Cuda with a slant six in it. It would be so different.
I was wrong on the stripes, mine were a bit different, they were painted on. Here's a picture from the first day I bought it, 1978.

I will bet you if you pull into a car show full of E-bodies and open the hood you'll have the ONLY one in a field full.

People are tired of the same old cars your 6 cylinder is going to be unusual just because it's a 6 cylinder. Most people who got ahold of one years ago converted them to a v-8 of some kind.

My Barracuda literally haunted me for years in my area. One morning I found it down the road from my house pulled off in the weeds. I looked it over and of course there was a 318 under the hood!!! The next time I saw the car it was for sale and I didn't buy it. Never saw it again.

A lot of Slant 6 info here:

http://www.slantsix.org/

There is a lot of info on line - just start "googling." There is a lot of help on the forums. And make sure you join a local Mopar club. Nothing like a knowledgeable mopar helping hand when it comes time to install an engine or work out some wiring issues.

Kudos for keeping the 6. My philosophy - if its got its numbers matching drivetrain - keep it original. If you want to play - find a roller and make it your own.

Scott.
