Stainless exhaust??
« on: September 17, 2015 - 09:16:08 PM »
Well I am ready to buy the exhaust system for my 440/6pk 1970 Challenger.  The car is a all matching number car but I am not trying to make it a 100 point car.  I was planning to buy the resonators & mufflers with the correct date code and penastar logo.   However now I am considering going all stainless from Accurate Exhaust.  My reasoning is that it will have more bling since it is shinier (but still not to gaudy) and it will never rust. Also, I already went the stainless route on the fuel lines, brake lines, etc.  Other parts under the car are galvanized (fuel tank, straps, muffler guards)

Sooooo, .....how about you guys?
Anyone else do stainless or is it wasted money?

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Thanks

Can't remember, but I think it was an e-bay seller. Mine is the 2 1/2", I've heard the 3" had a drone sound?

As you have deviated from OEM and went ss on other items I would go ss.
SS= no future regrets
Non= probable regrets in short future when rust spots start appearing.  Especially around welded areas.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

Me too. Got it from http://performancepeddlerwholesale.com/

As for size? Do a little research. If you go too big you lose exhaust velocity. If I remember right, I read you should consider 3" with a 440 after you are up over 600hp.

Any links to drone on the 3" version? Was planning on this size for my 512 build.

SS has no benefits, whatsoever, except for rust resistance with associated length of life.  (SS is resistant to rust, not rust proof)

If you run your car only on nice days, its not worth, to me, the extra $$$, even with the moisture that tends to collect at time

If you really want bling you can polish the stainless.

I did that once on another car and it all turned a tan colour with the heat.  :lol:
