Mancini water pump housing
« on: November 13, 2015 - 06:46:33 PM »
Hey guys,
I have a 1970 440-6 pack cuda. I just purchased one of mancini's HV water pump kits, housing, pump and neck. On the top of the housing it has two 5/8, one 9/16 and one 1/4 holes. The two 5/8 are for the hose nipples but where does the water temp sensor go now? No way the stock sensor will fit in either the 9/16 or 1/4. Threads on the sensor or 3/8. Anyone else have this issue?

Sounds like you will need a reducer bushing to get you to 1/8th NPT for the stock sensor

3/8 you mean?

They will be NPT sizes ( NPT= national pipe tap)  heater hose nipples are 3/8 NPT and the stock temp sensor is 1/8 NPT as far as I understand it.
1/4 NPT uses a 7/16 taps drill size (.437")
1/8 NPT uses a letter Q  tap drill size ( .332")
3/8 NPT uses a 9/16 tap drill size ( .562")
1/2 NPT uses a 45/64 tap drill (.703")

The 2 holes marked 5/8 are heater hoses, the one marked 1/4 should be for the 1/8 NPT stock size fitting but you may need a reducer bushing, common at a hardware store, Lowes etc....
The one marked 9/16 is for an aftermarket mechanical temp gauge and they are usually 1/2" NPT
  Hope that helps!
