Help with deciding about dash pad restoration
« on: November 06, 2015 - 09:22:23 AM »
Ok, I guess I'll cry "Uncle" in trying to find a 1970 Dodge Challenger NOS dash pad on this planet for my car's restoration. Only option now seems to be getting dash pad restored. The stitching and the Challenger emblem on the pad are what worry me most. Also, have been told by several people that some restored pads can look "puffy" or "pockmarked with little bee stings". These are the 3 companies I am considering, JustDashes, DashPadPros and/or Instrument-Specialties.  Could use some close up pics of your 1970 Challenger dash pad restorations that any of you have.

Comments/suggestions/opinions as always are welcome as well.

thanks in advance

You should confirm with the companies you have chosen whether or not they do the pads in house or out-source them. I don't believe there's that many different companies doing the actual pads. :2cents:

If you're picky about the stitching and other fine details compared to an original pad....You'll NEVER be happy with anybody's reproduction pad :-X Prepare for some level of disappointment :'(
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

I may be a little late to the party here if you have found a dash pad.  I went through Dave at Roseville Moparts.  He does not do the restoration but he can take care of the process for you.  This is how it works.  You order a dash pad from him, he sends it to you.  You send him your old one and he refunds you for the core.  Here is why I used him.  He inspects every dash pad before he sends it to you.  If it was not restored correctly or it has issues, he will return it to whoever did the restoration.  You don't have to worry about getting a bad part and he is great to work with.  They are also a site sponsor.  He knows his stuff and is an active member on this forum.  When I was putting my 'Cuda back together, I ordered some parts from him.  He knew what kind of car I had and what I was trying to do.  A couple of the parts that I ordered were wrong and would not fit my car.  He sent me a note and asked if I was sure that was what I wanted.  He also suggested the correct parts that I needed.  He really saved me a bunch of time and money when I was the one that goofed.  That is above and beyond customer service.

Dave no longer involves himself in the process, to much of his time, to much of his money & to little profit to justify all the BS....
