Hello, I'm Sly from France, I bought a 71 383 Challenger in 2013. I'm intrducing the car here (pics are inside) :
http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=103440.msg1016870#msg1016870What I'm trying to do is to recover as much info as possible about my car, I wonder if you can help me out maybe ?
Let me explain :
The guy who sold it to me imported the car from USA to Germany in 2010 or 2011. He told me that he bought it in south CA, Santa Ana/Anaheim. He bought the car to an asian guy but couldn't get much info about it. He told me that man had the car for 3 years.
I'm pretty sure that car has been doing 1/4 mile runs, maybe with another motor ? : when I bought the Challenger, it had a big Shelby scoop on the hood with small holes drilled in it, a really short gear ratio (4.29:1 from what we found), velvet bucket seats, rallye dash, broken grill, rust under the vinyl roof, 383 motor from 67. The car looks like it has had numerous paint jobs (violet and white mostly), but was "dark gold metallic" from the factory.
It's quite rare : it is a real 383 car with tons of luxury options, (that vanished through the years unfortunately) you can check them out in the introduction topic). It has the A78 "formal roof package" option with the small rear window and overhead consolette (not there anymore).
From what I gathered, it's one of 250 in this setup or so, can't remember exactly.
This Challenger looked a bit special with that big scoop, small rear window like the 70's SE, black vinyl with rust underneath, Vanishing Pointesque white paint job, rallye wheels... Maybe some of you will come across this topic and say something about the car, maybe you saw it in the streets or at the dragstrip, or in a garage pathway... I'd love to know more about its history
Here a few pics of the car when I bought it.
And a video of the car :
