Darn this is getting frustrating.
« on: December 04, 2015 - 07:26:29 PM »
Just have to vent I guess. I restored my Orange Challenger in 14 and constantly ran into waiting for parts. This summer I tried to restore my FJ5 Challenger and was constantly waiting for parts, the last order I did in June finally came in November and I didn't get everything I ordered.
I had a problem with my orange car as I couldn't get it to idle crisply, finally tore it down and found a lifter going flat so I tore down the engine to clean everything and change cams of course. Go to order a new set of headgaskets today and guess what? Yep no Felpro 4.5 headgaskets until late December. I could use a different brand perhaps but they are all different thicknesses so I want to keep the Felpros so my pushrod length stays the same and the intake gaskets will line up perfectly.
Anyone else constantly running into waiting for parts? Man I miss the old days of going to the Chrysler dealer and ordering factory or Direct Connection goodies and having them within a few days.

you sure you haven't checked other places that might have them?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

On the gaskets yes. I checked a lot of vendors in the U.S. and Canada, just bad timing for me I guess. You wouldn't think they would run out of them. I didn't expect it with the gaskets, but it sure is common with repro parts lately. No one wants to stock parts in this new world including the parts makers from what I understand. Everyone is hand to mouth and nobody makes/orders repro parts until they have them all sold already it appears.

I've read some posts from people saying they have been waiting months for wiring harnesses from Year One because they are back ordered.  I need a front and rear wiring harness for my T/A project, and have heard the best wiring supplier sells exclusively through YO so I am planning to buy from them.  I won't be doing much reassembly until it warms up in spring, but I figure I should look for a YO holiday sale this month and order the harnesses now, and then hope I get the harnesses by spring!

Evans makes a good harness  just make sure the pinning is correct in the plugs before connecting it
