Thanks for your comment IB-cuda

I'm looking for the paint codes/numbers for the best base coat urethane paint PPG has to offer for the FK5 DEEP BURNT ORANGE METALLIC (POLY)  along with the codes for the reducers/hardeners that go with it.This way I know what to ask the local dealer in Michigan.

I owned an FK5 Challenger back in the 70's, back then they were pretty common, I tried matching the paint for a touch up, at that time the guy at the paint store told my PPG had 18 alternate mixes for the color.... And looking at other cars with the same color code I probably saw more variations then that..  If you insist on matching your original color take an original paint piece to your paint supplier & have it matched.... Otherwise do a few spray outs & pick a color you like...  :2cents:

thanks for your comment 1 Wild R/T

I'm not trying to match the color from original I just want to confirm the paint codes for the urethane paint and reducer/hardener that PPG use today. This Is what I found out so far for PPG DEEP BURNT ORANGE is 2135  AY2FK5  is this correct code??because it doesn't mention the metallic (POLY ) and what is the best urethane that PPG carries? and what's DBU stand for?

Thanks
Rob

DBU is the base, it is vary simmular to what was Dupont now Axalta chromabase. it dose not use A catalyst of hardener, the reducer you use is dependent on temperature and conditions. the clear dose use A catalyst, again dependent on the temp and conditions. the label's are marked as such. hopefully the place selling the product will know this and be able to assist you. :2thumbs:

2135 was a ppg paint code for single stage enamels and poly stands for metalic. Here is a 1970 Plymouth paint chip.

PPG makes the dark burnt orange in two stage listed as Omni Mdx 2135, and a single stage urethane as Ppg 2135 both are metallic.

Yes 2135 is the correct number. Omni is PPG'S cheaper line. I would stay with DBC. it's A better quality product, but more expensive. to answer your question  yes it is A metallic.

I agree. stay away from the Omni. The Omni doen't cover for sh**. Its a lot cheaper but for a reason.
