Trans pan - ground clearance
« on: December 25, 2015 - 09:19:09 PM »
This question is for you guys running a non-stock tranny pan (727).  Anyone ever have any ground clearance issues with a 4 extra quart pan?? The reason I ask is there is a bit of a step up going into my garage......  :clueless:

Why don't you just have a trans cooler, or do you?

When I put a 518 in a Challenger 15+ years ago I created a skid plate that followed the trans pan shape closely, it bolted on with six of the pan bolts & was made of 12 ga cold rolled steel.... It would take a pretty severe hit to cause any damage....

most of the time, headers drag first.  myself, i have always used the deep pan and never had a problem, also, turn the wheel left or right so that it goes on a different angle side to side

My 518 pan hangs low, does occasionally hit.

I think ride height comes into play somewhere here.  1 extra gallon pan has never affected me unless I ran the front suspension lower than normal or something of the sort

Exactly... But some of us like to carve corners & lowering the CG means lowering the car....

Plus strangely enough potholes seem more common here in California than in most other states.... You'd think with our weather the roads would stay in great shape too..... Probably has something to do with all the funding earmarked for highway & road projects getting diverted to care for people who don't feel the need to get a fucxing job....

Lots of good points here... NIKKI does have a bit of a "rake"  , lots of crappy uneven roads, weird angle drive inclines, and since I've upgraded the suspension I'm more aggressive in turns. maybe 2  :dunno: quart be a safer bet.
