Hey, guys.

Getting front suspension dialed in (finally) and I'm at the point of trying to remove the little bit of play I have in the steering box.

A few years ago, before I redid all the bushings, etc. I adjusted the screw down. Helped a lot. But now that everything is much more dialed in, the play is more noticeable.

My question is how much adjustment is too much? As in, when will I know that I'm simply trying to correct for a totally worn box?

Right now, the screw is about level with the jam nut. As I recall, when I started there were a couple/few threads showing...

I know it's gonna be slightly different on every car, but is the ever a time where you adjust lower than than flush with the nut?

IMO, it's right at the point where it's worn out. I like the screw above the jam nut. Other opinions may vary of course.

That's what I was thinking. I'll give it a turn later today and see if I can take some play out, but I think a new box is in her future.

And why not? I've replaced most of the car already.  :biggrin:

My experience with too much is when you tighten it to eliminate the dead spot in the center to feels good point. It gets too tight at the lock to lock rotations. Worm wears more in center because it is used more there.
