Correct.  I simply crimped/soldered the exact same pins that the connector body uses and then slid them over the header pins.  I then soldered them to that and slid the heat shrink over.  The pins are crazy cheap and it made life much easier than trying to solder the wires to the pins directly.  I tried that and quickly learned it was a complete PITA.
