One day we were late pulling out a rig camp , the ice was melting & fast with water on top of the ice & if you know about ice it is far more slippery when wet or near freezing , I had a 70 ' shack on the back & we were headed downhill , should have chained up but though we would be OK , I slide under quasi control for 5 miles downhill towards the river I was able to bare slide around the corner without rolling into the river ...barely . We did 4 trips in & out each !
 Driving across lakes is easier , it is flat & straight but if you go to fast the ie flexes under the weight of the semi & you will crest the wave supporting the ice & the ice will break unsupprted by the water below , typically you will not go through the ice but the next guy will  :sadwavey:
