    Got a question for anyone who knows! I have a 1972 Cuda 340. I had a new paint job on it last year. During the repainting process the shop told me I needed to replace the headlight trim rings due to some corrosion. I ordered a new set and gave them to him without paying much attention to the rings. When I got the car back I noticed the rings were black with just the front edge chromed. I could have sworn that the original were all chrome. Looking at photos in my album, I was right. The old ones were all chrome. Now, checking out pictures of other's Cudas, I see mostly the black rings and only occasionally a full chrome set. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks.

    The ones on my 73 were chrome but I cannot confirm whether or not they were original.

    Where did you get your rings? I need to order some for my as both side were broken.

    On my 72 the perimeter is chrome plastic and the rest is black.  Where the black is scratched you can see chrome underneath.  I'm guessing they were chromed first then painted when made.

    Mine are chrome on the face, black around the light, these are correct by way of example.

    Mostly black with a thin chrome around the outside is correct.
    Back in the day the black paint flaked off, so some people just removed it all together. :2cents:

    Are there any sources for the headlight ring (the one that holds the light into the bucket)? I have looked and there are a lot of generic ones. I need 2 for my car, both were/are broken.

    I purchased them from Year One for $169.99 plus shipping about 16 months ago.

    Sorry about the mixup; I called the bezels a ring. I know what you are talking about, however. I checked my Year One catalog and also the PG Classic catalog and neither had the rings you are looking for.

    no worries. I have looked some for them, they are a 7" ring and there lots out there but they all seem to be chevy types or universal. Problem is that the tabs break off or the rings crack when people don't know how to remove them.

    Yep, Mr.Cuda, that's what my original ones are also. I still have them hanging in the garage. There must be some explanation from somebody that knows more about this than I do.
