Most garage door companies throw away the used doors.  Recycle what they can. 

So usually they are glad to give up a used door in good shape just so they don't have to pay to have it trashed.

Super easy job there.

I really appreciate all the great tips on materials guys. I'll call my local overhead door company and habitat for humanity and see what we can come up with. 

I guess now I just have to find a contractor to do it at a reasonable price and time.

Too bad your not in the middle of the colorado mountains.  I'd put a few guys on it for a weekend and get you taken care of.

I'm only like 5 states away   but thanks anyway 

I have a few guys in mind that did some work for my parents several years ago but I haven't heard anything about them in a year or so and I'm not sure their even working together anymore. I have one of them's cell number so I'm gonna give him a call and see if he'll come take a look at it for me.

They did good work at a reasonable price but you usually have to wait a few weeks for them to get to your job.
