Cuda with Gran Coupe Trim
« on: January 23, 2016 - 04:49:18 AM »
Hello everyone. I have a 1970 Cuda 440 6BBL. BS23V0B. I bought the car in 1990 and the car looked like an all original unmolested Cuda. It has the overhead console and felt type headliner, leather front seats and the trim in the groove of the door panels. All trim items that a Gran Coupe would have.

I do not have a build sheet or fender tag. They were all gone when I bought it. It was not running at the time of purchase and I only paid $1200 for it (so not a case of someone trying to pass off a fake for big money). Remember, at that time you could buy a nice Hemi Cuda for $15,000.

Has anyone else seen a Cuda (BS) with Gran Coupe like options?

Welcome from CO!  I have not seen a car like yours but almost anything was an available option back then.

Stop by and introduce yourself and post pics!  http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?board=30.0

Yes, there was an upgrade to the interior that is as you describe.  Your fender tag would have been coded PRX9, and you would have had code C26 for the overhead console.  Are your door trim inserts red?

You only get Red inserts if you get the Black & White Houndstooth with the Red piping...  Otherwise you get woodgrain inserts

And yes I Agree optional leather seats get you the overhead console & the door trim...

Very cool car..

Our BS23 Cuda also has the leather seats and overhead console, but the door panels are the basic Cuda style. The fender tag shows C26 and PRX9.  It's an LA car.

Yes, but the typical Gran Coupe door trim also shows up, sometimes. Is FY1's missing it when it should have had it, or did the LA plant not install them at all?  I have seen LA built Gran Coupes with 4 piece tail panel trim, when they should be 3 piece.  Maybe they didn't always have enough on hand? :dunno:
