Painting trim
« on: February 23, 2016 - 07:17:22 PM »
I put new bumpers on my 74 Challenger and now the grille trim looks a little shabby. Can I paint that trim with silver? What product do I use? I'm thinking of also painting the signal light housing.

What are you referring to as grille trim Murray? To me, that means the mldgs around it, is that it or do you mean the grille body itself? If it's the mldgs, there's some amazing chrome paint out there these days. I've seen it and Brian Pollock, the guy who owns Cambridge Custom Chrome is the guy who pointed it out. It was very, very near looking like real chrome would.

Ya it's the moulding Ian. I googled painting anodized aluminum and did some reading. Off to Canadian Tire tomorrrow for supplies.

The anodizing is thin Murray and I'd remove it by sanding before using the right metal prep on the bare aluminum. Don't forget your CTC money!
