Looking for any member in the Detroit Lakes, Minnesota area
« on: March 07, 2016 - 03:02:11 PM »
Wondering if anyone lives near Central MN Motors dealership in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. There is a 1972 Barracuda that I'm interested in there and would like a unbiased opinion of the condition.  I'm in Southeastern Massachusetts/Rhode Island border BTW. Thank you very much!

This is 45 minutes away from my work. I could swing over and take a look. Would give me an excuse to get the challenger out of storage since the weather has been so nice. I probably couldn't go over till Thursday or Friday, so if you get a better offer from someone, no hard feelings...   :)

Have you talked to the dealer at all? Curious what they say about it.

BFM_Cuda,

Thank you so much that would be awesome!!

The car is on consignment which the dealer, Mike Berns of Central Motors, he gave the seller's name and number to me to call. The seller is a person that turns cars for resale for a hobby - I'm told. So I'm a little skeptical about what he said about the car, but I'm looking for a frame that is original where nothing has been replaced. (I'm from New England and I have this thing about salt)  The car has been repainted I'm told so if possible could you look for any signs of bubbling or cracks from rust underneath. Please check the undercarriage if possible for known rust places especially the trunk and what ever you have experienced on these types of cars.  Also the original engine was a 318 according to the VIN,  now the hood is a 340 so this has been replaced. The bumpers or more specifically the front bumper seems odd for a 72 but I'm not sure. My thinking is that the dealer will claim he knows nothing (which is probably true) and that you have to call the seller which I can again if you see something suspicious.  I don't know your background and I hope I'm not insulting you with this rant, I'm sure your knowledge is much better than my experience with Cuda's.  Again I want to express my sincere thanks for this effort.

BFM_Cuda,
Thank you so much that would be awesome!!

yep no problem. I saw this for sale earlier and was thinking of just checking it out anyway. I am in the middle of a cuda resto, so I will give it a good look over. Ad says original body panels so I am curious for myself on one or two things. I will take some better photos too, and send them to you.

Send me a message if you think of anything before Friday.     :burnout:
