Brake line distribution block help
« on: March 19, 2016 - 12:14:28 PM »
Need some help, running into a snag with the brake distribution block. Car will have four wheel, disc, manual brakes.  I think the current distribution block I have is for a power brake set up. The fitting size is 1/4" and 3/16 respectively. I need to modify this so that I can fit 3/16 lines for the whole distribution block.
Two of the fittings are quarter inch size. Is there a way to "reduce" this down to a 3/16 line?. I went to several hardware stores, plumbing supply, Napa, etc. so far no luck. Do they make a different distribution block? That will work for four wheel, desk, manual brakes?
I spoke to the representative at in-line tubes, he is the one that suggested I could simply reduce the fitting size but I don't know if this is correct. If they make a different block I might just go ahead and try and get one.

Two things... The adaptor you need is made by Edelman, search Part Number: 258340 UPC Number: 021597604594

Second there have been many threads about Inline tube valves that don't work.. The valve binds & blocks fluid flow to half the system...   Fine Lines valves are reported to work well.... I have no personal experience since I have saved original valves for my projects...

I would use the Wilwood 5 line adjustable block this way you will be able to balance the front & rear pressures

Thanks guys for the replies...
I was hoping i could just find some fittings for what i have and be done with it.  The link 1 Wild R/T posted is spot on for what i am looking for...
I don't know much about In line tubes other than that is where i bought my lines, etc at Carlise...
I already have $ 65 into the valve i have,,,and wonder if i should try the fittings for a few bucks and see if it is ok ??

Chryco....
Do i "need" a porportioning valve for a 4 wheel disc car ? ( i thought that was for rear drums and front disc's ? ) I am no brake expert by any means,,

I will say on my 65 Belvedere strip car,,,i have 4 wheel disc's and have the wilwood line adjustable block,,,, and that thing stops just fine at the end of the quarter mile...

Do you think the Wilwood would bolt up with my current stop brake lines ? ( or does it come with adapters ? )

Do you think the Wilwood set up is MUCH better than what i am thinking of using with the "stock" set up ?

Thank you !! very helpful info....... :2thumbs:

Can't you cut and re-flare your lines with the correct fittings ?
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

I am sure the WIlwood is all 3/16 fitting so yes it will work with stock lines assuming you bend them
you only need 25-30% rear braking so depending on the size of the pistons & discs you may get rear lock up so reduing rear pressure may be nessisary .
I believe the Wilwood is a far better way to balance the brakes than iffy stock replacement parts
