Shorty or not?
« on: February 22, 2016 - 08:36:48 PM »
Hello, all.   Question for ya.  I am needing new headers. Mine are now somewhat flat on the bottom now...  I was wondering if the headers that tti make tuck up good enough or if shorties are needed?  Think I have hooker headers now and they hang down way to far.  Small block cuda.  Power steering.

I bought TTI shortys for my 340, I sold the engine now for a 6.1 hemi, but I like shortys, way easier around the starter, and according to tests they have more torgue than long headers in low rpm's. But I think the long TTIs are better than some other brands in clearance to ground, my old ones were low and eventually got flat.

That looks nice. I am leaning towards the shorty headers for sure. Thank you for the pic.

TTI will have the maximum ground clearance  using long tube headers if you decide to go long tube , the big problem with most small block headers is they go under the steering which is very bad for clearance , the TTI stay above the steering

I have run shorties, TTI and Schumacher Tri Y headers; the shortie headers are good for ground clearance and while I have seen the test data and comments, I have to say that my "seat of the pants dyno" says that they are better than stock manifolds but now I am not sure about long tube headers. The TTI's I have are on my Cuda which isn't running/driving so I cannot comment on them other than their fit with is very nice (best long tube header I have ever installed). Now, when I was looking for new headers for my Challenger I decided to give Schumacher Tri Y headers a chance since they are local. I have to say the fit is awesome, the performance is great. I highly recommend you take a look at them. They fit like a shorty but give you great low end where you drive much of the time.
