Cuda Convertible Restoration Project
« on: April 03, 2016 - 10:30:03 AM »
I have a Cuda Convertible which needs a body off restoration. I'm looking for someone that is honest & can do the body work on it who won't try & rip me off. I sure would appreciate any help, names and contacts. Thanks.

First of all, you're not going to get a body off restoration on a cuda.  It's a unibody!
You might want to talk to Alan "anlauto" here on the board.  He's been around for a long time doing Mopar restos and has a good rep.
I know a couple places in the Midwest I'd recommend staying away from unless you want to see your bills exceed your estimates of what your project will cost by double or triple.  I'm not going to name names on a public forum but feel free to pm me if you end up with any Midwest shops on your list of considerations and I will tell you about them.

First since he didn't post this but mentioned it to me in a PM this car/owner is in California so while I agree Alan G is a good suggestion the transport costs both ways & then the increased logistics of a cross country resto likely will become a burden...

Yea I couldn't agree more.....But lets look at the "over-all" cost.
Let's say on the West Coast a complete restoration would cost $80,000.00 USD.
At my shop, a complete restoration with a good deal of metal work would probably cost $80,000.00 CDN as well.

HOWEVER

$80K CDN would you cost about $60K USD......So with that $20K savings, he might be able to ship the car back and fourth.... :dunno:

I got the strong impression that he's only looking to get the rust fixed and the car painted and he'll do everything else himself, so that's not really what I'm into. With having the metal work and paint work out-sourced, there's not much money for me to make. Too bad...I love restoring Cuda convertibles !
