I personally like the 17x9 rims.. and the backspacing is correct to fit our e-bods.  The pricing is, especially, pretty reasonable.  The only issue I have concluded is that the largest tires that will fit are 275-40-17s and NO tire company offers a 200 tread wear rated performance tire in that size, or even a little larger.  Maybe they could offer 18"x9-1/2" or better yet 10" wide rims and then we'd be in business with 200 tread wear tires.  I have a leaning desire for competition road course and autocross events that specifically have club rules which are more commonly restricting the tread wear (softness/grip) to that magical number of 200.  (OR.. if the tire companies would offer 200 in a 275 size of 17 diameter, then.. I'd more seriously consider buying these cool 17x9 rims.

I agree with Brad.  There are a host of tires in 275/40-17 with 200 tread wear.  It's a very common size thanks to Mustangs and others.  Mitch, were you referring to another size?  I believe you've run wider on your 16x10s.  And I have the Falken 615s for my Challenger.

I was not aware of the Falken tires in 275-40-17... I usually do my searching on the Tire Rack's website.  At this time I don't own any 17" rims, nor any 18" rims... but I do own 4 15x8 vintage minilite rims (street/hwy new tires BFG T/A 255-60-15 front and 275-60-15 rear); 4 16x8 vintage minilite rims (intended for driving to/from hi-speed road course lapping sessions/competition hi-speed events... new BFG G-Force Comp-2  255-50-16);  4  16x10 lt wt road race rims (Centerline X-series) with Hoosier A6 275-45-16 for competition pylon autocross events, but these are now ~1 years old and I wore them out/corded after running ~40 50-second med-speed autocross runs in the Sept 2012 All-Mopar Monster Mopar Wknd at Indy/Luca... I would like to get another same set of these ultra-sticky competition autocross tires for serious "season championship" events... but.. the cost is prohibitive to me (~$1300) for another 1-2+ years for now.... these tires would have to be trailered as they are not good for the stret/hwy even though they are DOT-approved... but in the varius racing classes that I could compete in (at my choice clubs, etc), these are the ultimate to WIN.. and I do want to WIN!.

I'd like to get a set of 200 tread wear tires for those certain competition events that have that rule of "200 tread wear minimum"... these 200 TW tires could be driven on the street/hwy, but very minimally so to prolong their life and competiveness.

I don't forsee any 255-50 or larger, like 275-45, 200 tires being offered in 16" diameter... if they did.. then I'd probably buy them more easily than the replacement Hoosier A6.

I'm a "race competitor" first before I'm a street/hwy/cruiser-driver, and the car shows can mostly wait (often boring when I'd rather be "showing my car on a road race track/autocross event".... that's the main reason I have my car...  driving competition in a Mopar!

Just 2 factors:  Time and money... if I had the money I could buy the time!
