trunk inner rear quarter undercoat
« on: April 21, 2016 - 09:50:50 AM »
wondering on a 71 cuda if the insides of the rear quarters where sprayed with some type of undercoating or textured rubberized paint? I seem to recall that I've seen pictures of e-bodies with this inside the trunk area on the rear quarter panels up to and even over the marker lights.
is this correct, did the factory do this?

wondering if it should be done on a full stock restoration to be similar to original.
did they all have this?

thanks

oh boy, so it should be body color then not black.
should it go up onto wheel well or just inside skin of quarter only?
was applied before marker installation then.

Restoring my car as a driver: 70 Challenger A66
Have a mostly original car in storage since 1984.
Picture of the trunk inside quarter showing the sound deadener, as per the factory
You can see how it was sprayed!

I've been experimenting with various undercoats and sound deadeners, even bed liner rolling kits
but have not found anything that is close enough, anyone have suggestions how to recreate this?

I have not personally used the product, but the "Big Boys" highly recommend Resto Ricks products.
