EDP Coating on New Panels

I am curious as to if I should remove it to bare steel, scuff it with red scotchbrite and leave it  or just wash it down and leave it?  On the interior surfaces of the panels I am going to leave it and top coat with epoxy.  I am aware of methods to test if the primer is truly EDP or cheap lacquer primer, so I will do that first.

All the AMD panels that I've used have a very good, tight and durable coating and I've left it on and worked on top of it. It doesn't grind off easily and I'm satisfied that it'll go the distance. Hope that give at least one opinion.

I was told by a PPG rep to leave it on. Get a rag with some lacquer thinner on it and rub it on the panel. If it comes off its no good. The good EDP won't come off.

Awesome thanks for the info. I am at the stage where I am a little  tired of trying to get to bare metal, so if I can leave a panel with EDP that makes me happy!

Take it off. If not you might be in for a surprise down the road.Epoxy Primer is designed to be applied to bare metal only. I do this on every car I do.

I had been wondering about the factory EDP as well. I was just beginning to feel comfortable with leaving it on, but now, we need some paint pros to put this one to rest.

Now specifically on the back side of a panel, in the spot weld area.
 
Should I remove it to bare steel and then weld through primer it, leave edp and hit it with weld through primer on that flange area?

My concern is if EDP bubbles then it removes the weld through coating I am trying to utilize.

Spot welds will of course be free of primer as they are supposed to be.
